shudder while stopped/possible EGR problems

03 Excursion and we are getting a slight shudder while sitting at red lights or parked. I scanned with an AE today and got the following codes.

<table dir="LTR" border="0" cellSpacing="0" cellPadding="2" width="463"><tbody><tr><td height="19" width="22%"><table style="width: 324pt; border-collapse: collapse;" border="0" cellSpacing="0" cellPadding="0" width="431"><colgroup><col style="width: 73pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3547;" width="97"><col style="width: 251pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 12214;" width="334"><tbody><tr style="height: 15pt;" height="20"><td style="border: 0px black; width: 73pt; height: 15pt; background-color: transparent;" height="20" width="97">P006a</td><td style="border: 0px black; width: 251pt; background-color: transparent;" width="334">Undocumented trouble code description</td></tr></tbody></table></td><td height="19" width="78%">

</td></tr><tr><td height="19" width="22%"><table style="width: 324pt; border-collapse: collapse;" border="0" cellSpacing="0" cellPadding="0" width="431"><colgroup><col style="width: 73pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3547;" width="97"><col style="width: 251pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 12214;" width="334"><tbody><tr style="height: 15pt;" height="20"><td style="border: 0px black; width: 73pt; height: 15pt; background-color: transparent;" height="20" width="97">P0401</td><td style="border: 0px black; width: 251pt; background-color: transparent;" width="334">Exhaust Gas recirculation flow insufficient detected</td></tr></tbody></table>

I pulled the EGR valve and it has some moist soot but not much. I can tell the color of the o-rings and can see the shinny metal of the valve itself. The coolant bottle is spitting some coolant where the small hose attaches to the front of the bottle.

This is the second motor as the first one was replaced with a used one having 10k less then the original one. The original one had the delete kit which had the plugs in the end and i asked the ford meck to put that cooler on the replacement motor but how can i tell if he did. The motor swap was in Aug 2011. I have some live data if someone can tell me how to post it.Thanks for the help, Levi

Unless you can just recognize it I don't se how you could know for sure. The P0401 kind of "implies" the blocked off cooler is in there but a stuck closed EGR valve could cause the same code.
Will AE send command the EGR valve? If so you could monitor IAT2 and command the EGR open and see if the temp rises a lot and quickly. If so the cooler is open. I guess you could simply graph IAT2, EGR commanded, and EGR actual and drive the truck varying the throttle a lot. You could tell if the cooler is open and see if the EGR valve is operating properly on the same trip.

I don't think the ae will send commands but will do some checking. I will also try to monitor the IAT2 tomorrow and will let you know what I find.

Mine is doing the exact same thing except I haven't gotten any codes. It's been vibrating quite a bit while idling and my Scangauge won't display any EGR related readings. I'm beginning to wonder if my EGR is bad.
