So, when my EGR valve got mucked up and looked like the left, I'd make it look like the right, and my engine code would go away.
Well, it's happening more and more, I think the valve has about had it. To replace, it's $200-300. Or, when looking for one, I found an egr delete kit for $300, which would mean never having to deal with it again.
Any words of wisdom on this? Is it extremely difficult? I'm fairly mechancially apt, however I absolutely need my truck every day, and if I have problems, my only place to turn is here, which can have some turn-around time.
The EGR cooler, which can potentially leak, will this eliminate that risk? I litterally know nothing about the EGR system, other than it's function of recycling exhaust.
The oil cooler and EGR cooler go hand in hand, removing the EGR valve and cooler will be better. You can also put in a new oil cooler while you are doing the change.
I don't even know what i'm doing under there. i know how to fix stuff, and build stuff, but i couldn't identify it if i needed to. Oil cooler, egr cooler, haven't a clue what is what. I'm just tired of dealing with the system, and just assume remove it.
