I removed my EGR valve block off plate yesterday to re-install the EGR valve back in its place. I immediately noticed the intake looked wet, which I know all to well isn't a good thing. EGR has been deleted for a little over 2 and a half years and 54k miles so I dont know how coolant or water would make it's way in there. No head gaskets symptoms, just noticed it looked wet. Could this be oil coming from the CCV? The intake manifold was oily before i cleaned it, and I've recently noticed oil leaking out between the plastic CAC tube and intake manifold where they connect.
Heres a few pictures:
If you have too much fuel going into the cylinders and not being burned
it will show up as a black sooty goo at the EGR valve port. You may want
to have a look at the front side of the cat too. Just pull the pipe apart and
take a look in with a light. As to why it is over fueling ??? Take a sample
of the goo and see if it will burn.

I'll take the EGR back out and scrape some of it out. I don't have a CAT, truck is straight piped.

It won't be from overfueling because you have no EGR to recirculate exhaust so it's CCV oil and not really squat you can do about it unless you vent your CCV to atmosphere. I don't think it looks that bad myself. I've seen a LOT worse.
So is the gutted cat still in place? If yes does it drone?
Sean
When I said gutted, I meant it is fully removed. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok that's what I thought too, I know its pretty clean compared to a truck with the EGR still. I was just worried about the "wet" look, thanks for the help.
