Borg Warner T9 shifter adjustment

Borg Warner T9 shifter adjustment
I've got a Borg Warner T9 that's having some trouble with shifting. In the middle of shifting gears the gear shift lever just goes limp and appears to have no contact with the internal parts (Rails, forks etc.). You have to sit for several minutes and "work" the shift lever around before you can finally get it to engage. I've looked for a repair manual or adjustment procedures but have come up empty. Does anyone know the procedures or where I can a rebuild book?
Thanks!

Ford Type 9 5 speed gearbox overview
Diagram is the best I can do.
UK parts & info sources:
Ford Type 9 gearbox - Parts by Gearbox (All) - Parts by Fitment Type
Ford Type 9 gearbox information and Parts - Type 9 Home
Most everything I find goes back to the UK.
One suggestion in the first link is to replace with a T5--probably another can of worms, or not.....
