Power on/off with ignition switch?

Power on/off with ignition switch?
A while back someone mentioned one of the alternator wires is on/off with the ignition switch. This is perfect for an under hood accessory. Which wire is it on a 2001?

So the timer for the glow plugs is after the relay?

No, the PCM sends a ground signal to activate the relay, but you will find one of the smaller posts on the relay that is hot only when the key is turned on. Use that post and put a ring terminal on the wire you want to get power from and it's a simple way to do it.

Each of the small wires read ~.835v with ignition off and ~12v with ignition on or ~13v with engine running.

For the AIH, that's normal since it's rarely ever activated. For the GPR, one post will read ground for the first few seconds after the key is turned on, then return to battery voltage.
