Help diagnosing engine noise
I have an 04 with 135k and yesterday i started noticing a loud noise that sounds like a fan possibly a vacuum noise on acceleration. it sounds normal at an idle but the noise starts as soon as the truck does hot/cold. i have searched around and tried some things that have been mentioned but nothing so far has seemed to fix it. ive never pulled anything very heavy with the truck and it doesnt get any hotter than it ever has 180-200f. other than this noise nothing seems different. has anyone else had this similar problem? what can be done about it?

Sound like you've developed a leak in the CAC tubing or exhaust. Check the boots on each end of the large tubing from turbo to the radiator area. The one on the turbo (passenger side) is common to leak under the bottom side. For exhaust crank it cold and check for air around the tubing at the back of the engine quickly before it gets hot. Do you have a plastic tube at the front of the intake? Those were subject to leaks in the corrugated section under the air filter housing.
