For all those concerned we got home about an hour ago. After we sat at the White Castle for a while and cooler tempers, well my temper really, I was able to get it started. The White Castle was across the street from an Auto Zone. First I checked the points but they looked pretty good. I then started checking for spark. When I check the coil to distributor cap wire the cap end was in poor shape. I walked over to AZ and asked the guy if he had a coil wire "like this one". He passed me off to the old guy there and he was able to find an exact replacement. A few minutes later the truck was running and never turned off until we pulled into the driveway. I started find after I turned it of. My son just hopped in it and drop to his friends house. Haven't gotten a call from him yet so it must be working. I'll just wait a while longer.

And you Chris. You're right about that young man being the future. There were several young families there. Between Ford trucks and John Deeres the future is secure. Stu

I'm VERY glad you guys had a good time!! I know you're all tired and trying to get your wits about you, but when you can, tell us who all the guys are in the group picture. I know most, but I just want to get it straight. Way to go ROB!!!!! Sounds like you had a very successful weekend!!! I've thought about you guys all weekend long. It sucks that I missed it, but honestly, my entire weekend evolved around my kids and their games and activities, so I can't regret it. I was especially glad to see the little guy in the picture!! He looks like he was having a ball.

First of all, we had a blast meeting those of you that attended. Secondly, for those of you that couldn't attend, you missed a great event. Rob and family did a wonderful thing. My hats off to them. Again, I was reminded why this hobby of old trucks goes to the heart of good times, friendship and family-oriented fun (except for the comment Chris made at the mansion, LOL). I look forward to more get togethers with you folks.

Lastly, the 54 made it home with only the 3rd gear intact. It was fun winding up the 223 at stop signs to get it going. Glad to be home safe and sound. Time for a rebuild on the T87.

Well, now that my latest adventure has come to an end now I'll take time to post about Truckfest. I would have done it sooner but I only have a Smart Phone, or whatever type phone I have and I have typing on it, the key pad is just too small and I keep adding periods everywhere.

Let me preface this with I am not a proffesional cinimatographer but it seems no one esle posted a video of one of, if not the most important momemt of Truckfest 2013. Please try to ignor the audio:

Truck Fest was great. I told Rob I would rate it just below TruckStock only because TruckStock was the inaugrial event and in honor of it and Doc I couldn't dethrone Truckstock. Rob, you, your wife and entire family put on a super enjoyable event. The farm was awesome but it was further complimented by the people there.

I met Chris for the first time on Friday afternoon when my wife and I stopped at his house on the way to Rob's. Chris you are character. Saturday night after everyone else left Chris, Rob, my wife and I stayed until past 1:30am talking. Chris ended the night by putting out the fire, I'll just leave it at that. You're a very strange person Chris. We're going to meet up again, soon I hope.

Here are a couple of pictures I don't think any one else have posted:

The Sutter barn, this was taken Sunday morning and that's my wife Michelle sitting there after everyone else pretty much left. Saturday it was the happening place.

Here's a picture from the cruise:

teardropty won the hardship award. He lost first gear, then while moving his truck, the drivers door caught the garage while backing up with the door open.
It wont stay shut now! during our little RT 66 cruise he had to hold the door shut!! LOL I felt sorry for him...
Don't fear Jeff, I have another 54 door, painted and ready to hang tomorrow! lol. What a stupid thing to do with leaving the door open. And yes, holding the door on our cruise humbled me. Katie (my gf) just laughed knowing it killed my OCD having something askew.

Teardropity,
Can't believe that 54 just kept giving you problems!!! Good to hear you made it. I actually remember when your difficulties were more or less taken in stride as they were an every trip occurrence.

It was a Great time and DOC hope you do Truckstock again this year. I'd love to see some of the rest of the FTE forum folks.

Special thanks to Rob for hosting and never sitting still the whole time. Gotta get you some chill pills

BJ, great meeting you. I learned that these trucks will give you headaches, problems and WILL get scratched, dinged, dented and crunched at times. Nature of the beast. It MUST be taken in stride, otherwise it becomes too much. Truth be told I am sure part of the 1st gear broke off when the shift lever broke. It allowed the gear to engage at 55+ mph. After the tack weld the lever was fixed but the gear most likely lay in the bottom of the transmission. 2nd gear gave out about 50 miles from home and we inched her home in 3rd. I could of tried addressing the issue there at the awesome Sutter Farm, but I wanted to enjoy the day with you fine folks and let the issues catch up with me later. That being said, for a 60 year old transmission, I am blessed. Tomorrow I will remove the driver door, pull the transmission and plan for a fall trip. Thanks.

Rob, I too want to thank you and the whole Sutter family for all the work you put into this weekend. We love the family farm and all of the history that goes with it, you are a lucky man. Everyone that got to attend will agree that it was a great experence and another great get together with the best dam bunch of guys and dolls and old ford trucks on this planetso CUDOS to you my friend for a job well done, Garry and Linda
We too arrived home safe but on our trip Linda saw a casino she hadn't been to east of Indy so we spent a couple hours giving Indiana some of our hard earned Kentucky money before we got home.Again Rob thanks for everything.

You are the Man! Close 2nd is Bob with the ever so cantankerous overheating truck/ starter. I just have to smile when folks talk about "in the good ole days" or "they don't make 'em like they use to". How quickly they forget what it was like to have to deal with vapor locking fuel lines, double clutching, tuning up your car every 5,000 miles or change tires ever 15 to 20,000 miles.
