I have a 99 f150 2wd 4.6 vin W with brake issues. it seemed the front caliper was sticking so I changed rotors, pads, and calipers. brakes were bled. brakes still stick. pedal feels normal, with no loss in pressure.
Abs has not worked for two years but the problem started about two weeks ago. curious to know what else can cause this.
I will be deleting the abs eventually but i might just do it now and get it over with. frustrated with the dealer who wanted to charge me 1000 for the parts i just did in an hour.
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for looking.
Replace the rubber hose going to the caliper. My cousin's 98 did the same thing and I replaced everything as you have.
The liner inside the hose had collapsed and would allow fluid to move into the caliper under pressure, but would not let it return when releasing the brakes. To verify,
push the brakes until the caliper stick, then release the hose filling to bleed the pressure, then see if you can turn the rotor again. If so, replace the hose.
replaced hoses and the brakes don't feel sticky anymore. Thank you for the tips
Glad to see it worked out well for you. (...and glad to see I wasn't the only one to change out calipers and pads before finding out about those durned brake lines!)
