Wonder why they don't show them listed for a 96. I bet they fit anyway. I have an exhaust leak at the manifold and when I looked, I noticed there is a bolt missing... typical for this truck since the previous owner had some bolts missing in his brain too. Bet I find the "missing" bolt snapped off in the head. Hopefully not, but regardless, I want to fix it anyway which of course involves pulling the manifold, so I'll just replace them with a nice set of headers while I'm in there.
I have a 96 f250 with the 460 and want what you have!! Did you get a y pipe built or buy one? What size pipes are you running to your muffler and what kind of muffler have you got? thanks!!
2 1/2 pipes. I cut out all my old exhaust and limped it down to the muffler shop, full long tube headers straight into the new system, a short "H" pipe crossover before the entry into the mufflers, then both sides go into a 2 in - 2 out muffler, I forget the brand, I will get that info for you.

Great information, thank you! So on your system you have both pipes running down the passenger side i assume? I have just read that is the only good way on these Fords to do it. You have good power increase down low too and right across the powerband? Anything you would do different from your install to another one? Thanks

My 2.5" duals run down the passenger side, then they split before the rear axle. If you have a midship fuel tank, it is the only way to go since that tank is right inside the drivers side of the frame.
This is really not that hard to do. There is plenty of room under there for both pipes and muflers. I am tieing into the stock pipes that are running over the axle. What I have welded up will go right up under and tie into those stock pipes. They will both be coming out behind the passenger side tire. I am going to finish off putting on the headers and I will take some pics of how the pipes and mufflers go under there. The exaust pipes and mufflers have cost me $50 so far. I went to Lowe's and bought the pipe. It is 2 in but the thing about it is its 2 in inside not outside so it slides right over all the stock pipes and fits right in the mufflers. I put the mufflers about where the stock one was so I could use the hangers that are there for the stock one. So far so good. Only problem that I have ran into so far is the guy that I got the truck from broke off 2 bolts on each side on the manifolds so the drilling has gotten interesting. If you do this TAKE YOUR TIME taking the bolts out of the manifolds. They brake really easy!
I wanted to make sure everything worked ok before I bought expensive mufflers. This is my first exaust job. I have done headers and what not but never done the hole exaust.
Give L&L headers out of Texas a look. They made their name on quality headers, and when you buy headers, IMO you are doubling you price not getting the best since you may have to re-do it and for the problems inferior headers produce. Extra thick flanges so no leakage and custom fit to your vehicle, spendy but well worth it. I put their set on my 97 F350 460 ci and then added a true dual exhaust, into one extra large quiet muffler, then dualed back out to the rear. All I can say is INCREDIBLE performance gain. All amazingly quiet. The first time I punched it after the install, I thought I broke my rear axle due to the axle wrap it produced. Check their real world dyno results out on their website;
I'm not trying to spend much money on this. Main reason for it was I has a broken exaust manifold and the muffler and cat were 21 years old. I only have around $240 in in the hole exaust system. This should improve my fuel millage and power.
