on my truck i have true duals no mufflers and no cats and it. is. loud. but it sounds good. Eventually i would like to get a set of shorty headers and glass packs.
A friend if mine had one with duels and no cat or mufflers on and it was loud but it did sound good.
I'm just assuming you don't have any emissions checks or anything. You can just cut the line that goes to the cat and let it pump into the air. It won't hurt anything. Feel free to do whatever you want in the way of mufflers. Just be warned that with only glasspacks it will be ungodly loud.
I don't want it real loud I don't like the attention. but I want it to sound good what mufflers do you think I should get?
Going to put on the headers then cut off the cat and muffler and run 2 pipes and 2 mufflers in the place of the cat and muffler. There will be 2 pipes running from front to back.
yes that will work! that is exactly what my setup is! try to cut the cat off as close to the actual cat itself to make it easier to clamp/weld on to the factory pipe! i still need to weld mine there because it leaks a little

I'm a big fan of Flowmaster. However, I don't like the price tag on anything they make. I bought 2 Summit Racing Street and Strip mufflers for less than the cost of one IDENTICAL Flowmaster. The summit muffler is identical to the Flowmaster 40 series. It's pretty rumbley at idle, and if you get on it it's pretty loud. The Flowmaster 50 series is what I had on my truck before what's there now, and I thought that was the best mix of sound and tone so far. But it's up to you to get it to sound however you want it. You could probably go on youtube and see how different mufflers sound behind your motor

Yup those are the ones. Make sure to get whatever inlet or outlet you require if that's what you want to get. Otherwise, there are a ton of mufflers out there with different tones and volumes.

I am a fan of flow master also. I like the deep tone they have. These look good. Just gotta figure out what size inlet and outlet.
Give L&L headers out of Texas a look. They made their name on quality headers, and when you buy headers, IMO you are doubling you price not getting the best since you may have to re-do it and for the problems inferior headers produce. Extra thick flanges so no leakage and custom fit to your vehicle, spendy but well worth it. I put their set on my 97 F350 460 ci and then added a true dual exhaust, into one extra large quiet muffler, then dualed back out to the rear. All I can say is INCREDIBLE performance gain. All amazingly quiet. The first time I punched it after the install, I thought I broke my rear axle due to the axle wrap it produced. Check their real world dyno results out on their website;
For the price that L&L wants for windsor headers, I can buy headers for me and 4 friends from summit. If he had a 460 that would be different, but he doesn't.
I have first hand experience with the pace setter headers that summit would send him if he ordered the "summit" brand headers. They are of good quality and if I had to put another set on a windsor, I wouldn't hesitate to order another set from summit.
the5schlueters, if you're going with true duals, you don't need to go any bigger than 2.5" for pipe (I also wouldn't go smaller than 2.25") if you wanted to redo the whole thing, as you will likely have to do. You can go bigger, but there won't be much benefit in it.

Yup ordering the summit brand headers and summit brand mufflers. I think it has 2.5 on it. I will have to check tomorrow.
