I had my 2000 F250 7.3 PSD in for an alignment following new tie rod ends and they said the back end was a little out of whack... I took a look at it when I got home and it seems one of the leafs on the passenger/rear is broken, just in front of the U-Bolt...Looks like the top leaf.
I have a Superlifts 4.5" lift on all four springs...Any ideas on what I need to get this thing fixed ? Do I need a whole new spring set ? Or can the leaf be replaced ? It's getting to that time of year to start tugging my 5th-wheel trailer around, but there's no way I'm gonna do it til this is repaired.
Find a heavy truck spring shop. they can make a new leaf.
If it is the top leaf that is broken, it is your main leaf. I wouldn't be driving to far like that.
That's waht I was thinking ... I'm wondering how long it's been broken, I just took it out of storage a couple weeks ago and driven it a few times. I'll definitely be taking it to Aurora Spring on my way home this morning...It's just a mile from my house so I'll drop it off and walk home. Hopefully it won't be a huge pain in the wallet, I just replaced tie rods last week and upper/lower ball joints are next.
OK...
So I just took the truck by Aurora Spring here in town, and the guy told me I'm S.O.L. on account of the Superlifts 4.5" lift kit. I asked him about the phrase on the website stating "Any Size Truck or Trailer WE FIX THEM ALL!" ... He just shrugged and said, " I don't know what to tell ya'...Good luck."
Any ideas where to turn next ? Superlifts ? Will I have to replace both rears to make sure it'll sit level ? What a pain in the neck !
You may be able to contact super lifts and see what they say, there is another good spring shop in Melrose Park, service spring. You may be able to get one from them. If you can get one from who ever I'd be happy to lend a hand swapping it since I did mine a few weeks ago!
call super lift, they have warranties on their suspension. And you should have both sides replaced, if you only do one side it will be higher because of the new spring.
I got in contact with the 4x4 shop I purchased the lift kit from and they informed me they couldn't find the record of me ordering the kit... However, I do still have the receipt. Heavy Metal Performance is going to look into getting the parts I need to get me back on the road and back under my trailer ...
