Well heres the thing.. 93.5 f350 dually cc
problem I'm having when I get ready to pull out I hear a (cling clang) sounds like metal clinging then it will clear up once I get going. also it rolls the blue smoke when pulling a trailer and sometimes empty. It is also using oil I also had this truck worked on about 6 months ago redone the whole fuel system (ip, injector, glow plugs, filters) He also done a compression test on the truck because it was using alot of oil then like 1 gal a week. What should I do or does anyone think the turbo may be going out of this thing?
When I think I hear it from under the hood then I think I hear from trans area and when I pull out and give it the fuel it gets louder and faster then it will clear up alltogether and run fine.
as far as the blue smoke would the cdr cause it to smoke that much ? Smokes inbetween shifting and giving it the fuel blue/black smoke
Heres a pic of what I found today under the hood.
Cant be a good sign if oil is coming from manifold I checked to make sure the valve cover gasket wasn't leaking but its def from manifold.
she's not burning a gallon now. I took it to a diesel mechanic that sent the ip off and they sent a new 1 back not a rebuild so I assume it was wore out. He redone the whole fuel system new injectors, gp etc. I am not sure on the transmission I will have to let you know tomorrow as its dark now. The engine has 188k it is a 5 speed and will only got 55mph any faster and it sounds really high rpm if that makes any sense I'm sure its of the rear end
Might be your dual mass flywheel about to go. If its the original, I would seriously check it out and consider replacing it with a single mass flywheel conversion kit if that's where your noise is coming from. A broken dual mass flywheel often cracks the aluminum bellhousing on your ZF 5 speed and ruins the transmission. Also check your other drive line bearings, U joints, transmission throw out bearing and such, but first of all check out that flywheel if it's the original DMF.
Unless I am missing something in your picture, it looks like crank case pressure is forcing oil out of the dipstick tube and it's running down onto the manifold. If oil were gushing from an exhaust port you would have oil running out of your tail pipe.

Thanks for the reply.. There is indeed No oil coming out of the exhaust. Where do you think the oil is going why is there blue smoke when I shift etc..
If your exhaust pipe is dry, you are certainly not puking enough oil for your exhaust manifold to "leak". If it puffs blue when you downshift, you are burning out oil that seeped into the cylinders.... Either past the piston rings (worn out) or past the valve guides and valve seals. Valve stem seals harden, crack, and generally don't seal well with age, regardless of mileage, so blue smoke does not necessarily mean a worn out engine. Mileage, maintenance history, oil pressure check and cylinder compression check are good indicators. If you are burning a lot of oil, check the cdr valve as posted earlier. A clogged cdr will result in high crank case pressure, which will force oil out of every place it can be pushed. It will be forced past seals and gaskets, causing early failure and a royal mess. Crank case pressure will often force the dipstick cap out of the end of the dipstick tube, and push oil out of it. Looks like you may have some of that. Remove your oil filler cap with the engine running and warmed up. A little vapor and pressure is normal, but if it is puffing a lot of air, you have a problem. Probably a clogged cdr (which by the way is "crank case depression regulator" if you do a search). If the cdr is ok, and there is still a ton of blow by, it's time for a compression check. Hope this helps.
