white smoke
My father inlaw has a 2001 powerstroke when he bought it it was hard to start and had to plug it in then it started missing and eventually got worse. We replaced the turbo twice glow plugs injectors idm and the sensor that goes into the head. Its not missing as bad anymore but blows white smoke. If we pul a trailer it seems to do fine. No white smoke .anybody have this problem or know what it might be

If it smells like fuel there are only a few ways to get that... Injectors, Injector O rings, or compression.
My bet is injectors. Did you replace the O rings every time you pulled them?

When you turn the key on the fuel pump should run for about 30-40 seconds without the truck running, then it will turn off.
You can drop the fuel tank and check the mixing chamber, there are screens in there that like to get clogged.
Still would not cause your white smoke issue. Your issue is from too much fuel reaching the cylinders, not a lack of fuel.
