Why is she shaking??? Here is the deal. I have a 92 F150 2wd with I6.
When I get over 53mph-62mph the front end shakes like crazy. My tire pressures where low and I filled them mto spec and now it shakes from 53mph-70mph. When I go over a bump at those speeds it feals like she is braking up... There is a sound that comes from the left side wheel. It sounds like a metalic clanging when I go over bumps. But...When I have my foot on the brake it does not make that sound. I know I need a ball joint replaced on the right side. My brakes are good. My shocks are shot. I plan on having them replaced next week. What I want to know is what is all the shaking about and that clang. Could it be related to the shocks??? Thanks.

Check your shock mount bushings, all you have to do is
grab a hold of it near the mounts and move it, it should
not move if it does your bushings are worn...
Sounds like you need to have your tires balanced also. I would also check the shock bushings, and if you have worn ball joints, and shocks that is definatly going to mess up your alignment. I would start with getting the tires balanced then take it to a good alignment shop and have them check it all out, most will not charge you if you have repairs that need to be made before the alignment can be done properly.
Sounds like the steering rod, drag link assembly have too much play in them. See if you can move them around by hand. They have ball and socket ens that get worn out and the front wheels will shake back and forth untill you apply the brakes to straighten 'em up. Meanwhile if it's shaking that bad it's probably dangerous. The replacement is an easy fix. Good luck:-)
My 93 did the same thing. Between 64 and 75 mph the front end would start to shake. I felt like I was riding on a skateboard with loose wheels. Very pronounced clunking noise when going over bumps and a little too much play in the steering wheel. Turns out the castor adjustors were worn out, cost about $600 to fix.
Thanks for the info. Im going to get the ball joints, shocks, and wheel alignmant next week. Those are the things I know are crap. Im hoping it is those items if not I will use the suggestions I have received.

my 95 f150 was doing the same thing with the shaking.I went out and found a loose shock and tightened it up and now it is fixed.who would have thought that the shock would make it feel like the frontend was going to fall out:-staun
When I tool the old shocks out the rubber bushings were ripped up and hanging off! The shocks themselves when compressed took over a minute to go back to its original position.....

Anybody put in shocks that were compressed from the factory. The ones with the plastic strap that keeps em compressed? The front shocks did not have that and were very easy to replace. How do you replace the rear shocks while the shock is compressed?
TY

I have always just got one of them started then cut the strap and soved the other side on as it was extending. always has worked ok for me. i also had to compress one once when someone who was helping me helped by cutting the stap off to get it out of the way. THANKS ALOT. LOL but it wasn't that hard to push it back together to get it on place.
