You also want to make sure the throttle cable is underneath that part (on the left side)

Don't know about the factory turbos, but the aftermarket kit tells you to remove the studs from the exhaust manifold and put them into the y-pipe piece. Then that piece bolts onto the manifold. I'm not sure if it will fit with the studs in the manifold, or if you'll have to pull the studs and use bolts.

For the filter box, which injector line is hitting? I'll admit to not knowing which cylinder is which (and too lazy to search for it right now). The aftermarket kit comes with a new injector line for #2 for use on the 6.9L engines only. I guess they changed the lines slightly for 7.3L trucks so its not an issue on them.

Also, on the first picture, you'll have to remove that lifting bracket on the rear passenger side of the engine. There is a metal heatshield that gets bolted there instead to protect that rear injector/line.

I have a pdf of the install instructions for the aftermarket kit and the parts list. Someone must have posted it here at one point, if you can't find it, PM me your email and I'll send it to you.

Tecgod got one more question for you, facing the engine, the right hand side of that piece that bolts onto twhere the stock CDR goes bolted right on, had the bolt for it, and i'm pretty sure i got all the bolts that i pulled when i pulled the turbo, but on the left hand side, i don't have one exactly like that.
I have one oddball double sided threaded stud, and i'm not sure where that goes, being that theres only one i'm wondering if you or anyone else recalls where that goes?? if the other side just takes a bolt identical to the righthand side i can just go get one but i'm just making sure, that stud does NOT fit in the hole to hold the bracket to the intake.

Part #34 -> 5/16-18 x1-3/4 bolt-flange head
They are both the same.

Seriously, what is your email?? I'll send you the two files that list the parts and how to install it.

Well fellers, replaced to valve cover gaskets today, drivers side for the cdr on the truck.
And the one on my trusy ol daily driver honda hahah.

Also with much cutting hammering back and forth and cutting some more i managed to get the exhaust out of the hangers and somewhat..."save" the hangers for future use. haha.
neglected to wear gloves as i have used my grinder for cutting and grinding many times, but did not think that i was lying on my back this time and managed to get some molten metal to drop down right on the webbing between my thumb and pointer finger...
day ruined... next couple of days probably ruined hahah. not fun.
wear gloves folks!

Recap: Turbo rebuild kit will come in Monday along with my comp wheel turbine wheel shaft and nut all balanced. Radiator will HOPEFULLY be out of the shop on tuesday, all clean and hopefully not fell apart...
New water pump has been installed, coolant filter head and bracket installed waiting on radiator for fresh coolant with SCA's and new hose routing. new thermostat and gasket.
Ol gal oughta run pretty cool for now on.

Alright got my fan and radiator back in, coolant filter hooked up, Put my turbo together for the most part, but realized that my rebuild kit didn't come with a gasket for the pedestal/drain.
Mine was old and stuck to the pedestal when i tried to remove it and of course it cracked
Also managed to lose my horseshoe clip for the actuator arm on the wastegate. yay.
Guess i'll have to redneck somethin for taht.
Anyone know where i can order just one or both of those pieces?

I got my turbo drain gasket at john deere, was getting some parts, happened to ask, they had one. As for the E clip, you can buy em at NAPA and i would assume any parts house

Hm. Did you ask for a turbo drain gasket specifically for your turbo or just a turbo drain gasket? Might be able to have this thing bolted up and running tomorrow after all!

Alright guys got her bolted up for the most part to the point she will probably run okay. I need to hook my CDR up though, where exactly does it hook to? is there a hose that takes it somewhere or what?

yeah. a hose(heater hose should work) connects to the CDR on the valve cover, then goes into the intake tube pre-turbo.

So it goes to that nipple coming out of the side filter/intake right before the turbo? i was thinking that but wasn't sure.
While i have you here how much of the heat shield did you put on your turbo set up? to be honest i completely forgot that i would need to put the pieces on before i bolted the turbo on, so i may can squeeze some in but its gonna be a pain.

Also. normal 5/8's heater hose is too small. unless i just work it on there and then it would be really really tight

yes, that is were the CDR hose goes.

I have all the heat shield on my turbo still. exhaust housing and up-pipe. the factory down pipe has the foil on it, but when i put my 3" DP on i didn't transfer the stuff over. Putting the stuff on now that the turbo is on is going to be a royal PITA for sure!!! in all honesty, i don't know how much the factory foil helps with spooling. i would think it has to be better than nothing but i think it is more for heat control. If you want the heat to stay in the turbo to aid in spool and reduce engine bay temps i would forget about the factory foil and get a turbo blanket. the blanket will be a bit expensive, but more beneficial. let me find a thread about the blanket.
