At least for my part. My 93 F-150 is shifting much better after cleaning the VSS in the rear axle & putting new capacitors in the computer.
I may need to check on that next. I’ve done so much work on this 94 E350 lately. Every now and then the hard shifting would be butter smooth for just a short bit. But it would go back to the hard shifts 10 minutes later. It’s leading me to either the VSS or the TPS but checking the computer may be a good idea.
I checked my TPS w/ an ohm meter and it checked out OK.
The VSS had some small metal chips on it. Suppose that happens over 200,000 miles. I cleaned out the rear axle with brake cleaner. Checked for any signs of gears not messing, but it was all good.
Reinstalled the cover, and put in new fluid. Between that and the new caps in the computer. My 93 is shifting much better.
