92 F150 4x4 302 E4OD auto
This tranny was rebuilt a 10 months ago and had a shift kit (kind unknown) put in and it shifted a little hard from the beginning. But engine needed to replaced 4 months later so it was park for the past 9 mos. So now the engine is and I noticed it shifts really hard in reverse and pretty hard in 2nd. The overdrive light on the shifter is out and it seems to be shifting in and out of overdrive but it isn't easy to tell the difference any way. I did notice the tranny fluid is a bit overfilled. What could be causing the hard shifting. The thought of having to park it again will just kill me . I truly love this truck it just a pain in my a**. It is the only Ford that I've owned to give me so much HELL !!!!
Anticipating some much needed help from the awesome guys at FTE
Well first of all shift kits make it shift firmer which isnt necessarily bad. Over filling can be bad because it will aerate the fluid which will cause poor shifting and slower reactions throughout the transmission also causing hardshifting. If this transmission shifts too hard then I suggest You have it gone through again by a reputable shop and have them put in a shift kit that is well known in this world if you still are interested in a kit.
