Would a vacuum leak cause a massive drop in mpg? By massive I mean from 9 to 6.
I have a 460 in my '69 f250 so it is not original and I don't think it is stock either, but don't know for sure. It has a points ignition though so I think it is pre '75. Was running rough I went around the manifold with starting fluid and sure enough when I hit on the front drivers corner it smoothed right out. Pretty much right behind the distributer.
As a short term fix could I run a bead of rtv or something else along the seam to seal it up? Or would this just be a waste of time and materials?
