Vacuum Leak or Normal.

Hi Folks, As I continue to learn about my "new" truck, I keep finding things that worry me. I suspect I have a vacuum leak somewhere because the truck has a rough idle (runs great at higher speeds). I have noticed that there is a constant vacuum (sucking) sound coming from my ventilation controls, even in the off position. The fan, selector and vents all work fine but I don't know if this noise is a leak or if it is supposed to make noise. After I shut off the engine the noise continues for a few more seconds then stops. Any advice would be appreciated!

That would indicate that you have a vacuum leak in your hvac controls. They are vacuum operated if you have A/C.

Indeed, it sounds like you have a decent sized vacuum leak! Something behind the dash is not connected, or one of the vacuum servos is leaking. Also find the vacuum resevoir(looks like a tomato juice can) and make sure there are no holes anywhere in the can. Good luck! Dale
