NP435 shift lever removal

NP435 shift lever removal

Could someone give me the method (probably super easy) to remove the shift lever before the transmission is pulled from the truck? Someone did mention about twisting something until two pins unclip but I am sort of lost!

Help!

Yikes,,, the CRS is kickin in today bad, but I am gonna try, I think you push down and turn ccwise,,,

Correct. Place in neutral, push down on collar surrounding shifter and turn counterclockwise. It does require some effort as spring is pretty stout.

The T-18 (if so equipped) is a little different, it has a threaded cap that simply unscrews.

Get a second set of hands. I used a wrench to hold down the cap and helper tapped the cap counter clockwise with a robertson screwdriver. MAKE sure transmission is in neutral as it will eliminate future swearing.
