On the TTB axle stubs there are grooves around the outer stub that a snap ring rides in and holds in the three washers under it. The dana 60 stubs are different. They don't have the groove. Do you just assemble the auto locking hub the same and just leave out the snap ring or what?
There is a retainer ring that goes around the inside of your hub then you put the outer cover on. But yeah some had the groves in the stubs for snap ring and some didnt. They just use that retainer ring instead.
Jacob I'm not sure about the 50's, but are you doing autos in the 60? If so, there is no outer snap ring that hold anything in. There is a half moon wheel key retainer with a notch that slides into the slot on the stub shaft. That's what keeps the spindle nut from spinning free.

Yeah. There were autos on it when I got it so I pulled them and put mine on because I know they are in good shape. I got the C clip thing. On the 50 though there are two grooves in the stub, one near the end and one near the spindle, and there is a snap ring that holds in the three washers.
On the 60 hubs I pulled apart there was no snap ring but no groove on the shaft either. I just put it back together the same minus the snap ring. Seems to work fine.
