Got a little issue with my 4x4 f250. While tearing down both front wheel hubs I noticed that my driver side axle had the retaining clip on the very end of the axle and also had 2nd snap ring along with 3 washers inside the hub right up against the spindle nut. When I got to my passenger side it didiot have this second snap ring or washers. Called a 4wd parts website and the tech seemed to know what I was talking about and told me the 2nd snap ring and washers was for when the truck had auto hubs and was not needed for manual hubs which I have. Can anyone back this up?

the after market hubs do not need the thrust washer stack. the inner part of the locking hub provides the thrust.
the manual hubs come with a snap ring that holds the shaft in place.
it is also a different spindle nut set up to convert from auto hubs to manual hubs

thanks for the reassurance. Went to a junk yard and pulled a hub and it was missing the thrust washer stack as well.
