Inner snap ring on warn hubs

I keep have the innermost snap ring pop off. Everything looks good in there otherwise. No chunks of anything, no stripped splines. Could it be just not seated well enough, weak ring, or am i overlooking something?

Are you talking about the wide ring that holds the hub in place? You need to ensure that the ring is pushed far enough back to snap into the grove that holds it in. When you put the ring on, you need to bend it slightly and work it around until it snaps in. The only other thing I could think of is you may have some junk trapped in the grove that is not letting the ring seat properly.

It's actually the ring to the inside of the hub. The one that holds the assembly together, but i would figure the same rule would apply

There should be a nut/screw/bolt that holds all the guts together in the hub so you can install the part. Did you remove the nut/bolt/screw that is holding it together in order to put it on the truck?

here is a general pick. what part keeps falling off

ok, from the picture, take guts portion of that hub, and just flip it over. it's a ring that is exposed on the back side there. it's right there looking at you, no digging

If I remember correctly, that ring is the same one in the photo that looks like the small ring with a hole at each end (small ring inside large ring in photo). On mine, these rings came installed and I did not touch them. The other set of identical rings, I did not use as there is no grove on the shaft to connect them. If the ring is on the inside, how do you know they keep popping off? Are you removing the hub assembly and find that this inner ring is free floating on the back side of the hub or are you taking off the cap and the small ring is free floating on the front of the assembly.

It's the one that goes to the back side of the main housing assembly, it's a heavy ring. When i pull the assembly, the ring was just sitting there. It has a sort of a point on one side, and the other is just a blunt end

I have looked over the parts list on their site and they do not list that section of the hub as a serviceable item. I am going to have to pull mine apart and see what you are trying to describe. Give them a call at 1-800-543-9276 and speak with a rep and see if they can shed some light on this. Can you take a photo of this ring, that would go a long way to figuring this out and the other question is, did you put these on the truck or did the truck come with them? Sounds like a retainer ring but that should not be on the inside

Are they aftermarket hubs or factory hubs?

Retainer ring would sound about right, it is not inside the hub mechanism itself. It's actually on the outside of the guts, just when you pull the whole unit out, it's to the backside, not front where the actual lock spinner is

I plan on pulling one of mine apart this weekend to see if I have the inner retainer ring and see how it snaps in there. This is all mine came with:

so I have no idea why you would have a second ring

I took one of mine off and had a look and I don’t have a ring on the inside. Have you been able to take a pic of it so we can see exactly what you are describing?

Are you talking about this snap ring? If so it should be in a groove on the axle shaft. Just trying to help clarify.
