I need some help to identify a sensor on my van. 1997 E150 5.4.
I located a small water leak on the van. When I went to investigate I found a water leak at a freeze plug. This freeze plug is located on drivers side of block below the exhaust manifold at the rear of the block. It is on the side but to the rear of the block. When you look from underneath it is easily visible.
The freeze plug has some type of sensor in it. I assume it is for coolant temp.? It has a 3 wire connector.
When I try to look up the part, nothing I find is even looking like it. I haven't removed it from the block because all my coolant would be out and I couldn't drive it.
I have looked online for quite some time and haven't found anything. I would like to fix the leak but I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for. I don't have a factory manual to locate the sensor by name. I'm not exactly sure what the sensor is called........
I was worried that it was a sensor of some type. I'm have codes show up and didn't know if that was a problem. Being it is a block heater there would be no problem other than a water leak. I'll just replace it with freeze plug. Probably won't need it here in Florida.
Never even thought of that. Never saw one before.
Thanks for the info. I spent lot of time researching to try to find out what it was..THANKS AGAIN...
