Ok, I have a part which looks like a freeze plug w\ a sensor in it that came off the lower-rear, passengers side of the block which I BELIEVE to be a coolant sensor, but I can't find ANY reference to this thing ANYWHERE ont he net.
The reason I believe it to be a coolant sendor is, besides it looking like one, when I go to pour water into my (now empty) radiator, the water (and just water) comes out of that opening.
It's held in w\ a brass bolt and what looks like a brass scissor nut (but fixed).
Another thing I can't figure out is how that scissor nut thing snapped. One minute I'm driving down the road, all is well, the next minute I'm overheating in a gas station parking lot.
If anybody can help me track down that part, it would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
I'll be damned, that's it!
I didn't even know that my truck had a block heater. I bought it in Florida, but it came from Wisconsin, so I guess it makes sense.
Now i just need to either get another or find a freeze plug that will replace it.
Thanks for the help!
Ditto, sounds like a block heater. There are also rubber "screw tight" core plugs made for tight places where you can't knock a std plug in place. I don't recommend using them though, but only as a last resort.
