Compass/temp etc. display inoperative
Hi All,
I have 2001 F350 diesel.
The display for compass outside temp and fuel usage has stopped lighting up,
after being a bit intermittent for a while. Anyone have experience in removing,
replacing or repairing these? Mine is located over the windshield in center.
Not sure how much to remove to get to it.
Any help much appreciated.

Look inside the cubby hole of the overhead console and you will see two retaining clips (left and right). With a flat blade screwdriver, press the clips outwards while pulling down on the console housing to free the rear portion. The forward portion (nearest the windshield) is retained with spring clips so pull down carefully to release.
With the console removed, you can unplug and remove the module (3 torx screws).
There are several shops online who can repair the module for around $30. I use this place...
