Replacing spring shackle
Yesterday I replaced the spring shackle and bracket on my '96 F250. The bracket was mangled so I simply cut it apart. The shackle was a real PIA. The bolt and nut were seized and would not move even with PB blaster and the hot wrench. I ended up cutting everything off and replacing everything with new parts. I used two floor jacks and another heavy duty screw jack that I used to lift my house off the foundation. I did use jack stands to make sure everything was safe. The HF 4 1/2" grinder seemed like it was going to fall apart but I got the job done. Finally I tightened the 2 heavy shackle bolts after I put the weight back on the springs.
