Just ordered a wireless backup camera & monitor off ebay for about $70
Camera mounts to the license plate screws
Monitor Clips onto existing mirror (which with a DVD is useless anyway)
you get 3 boxes in total the camera, the monitor, & the wireless adapters. I also had a few car plug adapters (cig lighter plug with wire leads)
Attach the adapters to the power leads from the camera and monitor and plug everything in.
Works great in a pinch, can be easily transferred between vehicles. Only problem that comes up is routing the wires. The wiring in the front isn't too bad, but mounting the camera on the license plate requires routing the wires through the tailgate to plug into the power outlet in the back. This leaves wires exposed on the tail and draped across the trunk space.
I plan on doing a permanent install at some point, but for now my wife just needs to be able to see around the DVD screen
You can tap into the trailer wiring harness and get the 12 volt from the reverse lights wire. Then whenever the truck is placed in reverse the camera will automatically turn on.
