Tailgate LED bar ?'s

Does anyone have one of these? What does everyone think of them? How do you hook them up, do they use your trailer wiring plug?

I had one and liked it, waiting to get another to put on my '06 Screw. It can plug into your trailer harness, if you have the tow package you have two plugs, it goes in the small one. It states you can "hard wire" it to your system-aint doin' that. The new ones with the white back-up lights have to be spliced to your lights(just the back-up wire), not real hard to do, just hate stripping warrentied wires. Good Luck

Just saw those today at my local truck acc. store and wondered about them myself...are the reverse lights bright enough to be a help?

I helped put some on an Explorer and he said it was more for someone to see you rather then for lighting the area behind your vehicle.

I wouldn't think it adds to much light when backing up but here it says it increases visibility. http://www.f150store.com/Shop/ViewPr...eIndexID=54419

I have a LED tailgate light that I put on my 06 Supercrew and I love it. I thought about the ones with the white backup lights but they are so much more expensive. I bought mine off Ebay for $35. Was easy to install.

been seeing some on trucks/suv's around here. Most of the time I see them, half the lights on the bar are burnt out. Looks pretty tacky...

sometimes they look burnt out because of the way the bar is intalled. if it is not on straight, at certain angles, the LEDs looks burnt.

The one I helped install wasn't on for three months when some of his lights went out. On mine it was slightly bent and some of the lights didn't work.

I have had no problems and it really does look good and have had many people say so. You must install it straight.

the only problem i had was not with the bar and LED itself, but with the tape it came with. After couple of washes, the tape came off the tail gate area. So I went out and got myself heavy duty double sided tape from Home Depot and used that. Towards the passenger side, I had to doulb layer them because the there is a dip. Regardless, no problems after one full year

I knew the tape would not hold ( past posts on other sites) so I added Two sheet metal screws, one on each end to secure it.
