Weird tach/stalling issue

I sometimes will be going down the road and the engine will quit firing, the tach will fall to 0 real quick and then shoot back up and then the truck is fine again... it's a stick, so even if it were to quit running the tach shouldn't fall to 0. Sometimes it will cut off, and not start again for a while.. but i can see the tach bouncing right off the 0 when it's trying to start... Truck is a '95 4.9... sound like an igniton control module issue?

the tach is reading the negative side of the coil.
if the coil stops firing, the tach will drop to zero- whether the engine is turning or not.

definitely an electrical issue- but '95 is way too new for me, so that's all i can say.

Agreed. The tach has nothing to do with this issue. If the engine is not firing, the tach will fall to zero. This is normal behavior.

Check to make sure fuse #8 (I believe) in cab, under dash, is seated firmly and there is no corrosion on the fuse or fuse slot.

It took me a while to find that in my truck.

You could unplug the Tach for a while.
If the tach is failing, short to ground on the sense wire, it could kill the engine.
