ya i know and they are the cheapest but the most refered in town.

FWIW I rebuilt a 390 for my father in law last spring. The work his took I would say was about average. The cost of the rebuild was $1285 which was split pretty much even with parts and machine work. It was also a couple bucks more too because of the RV cam I chose. It did get:
.30 over bore
polished the crank used .001 under bearings
heads took 8 guides and also had hardened seats put in all the exhaust valves
resized 2 rods
other than that it was just time and being thorough

I would love to do it myself but the machine work here is outragous as you saw a few posts ago. I ordered the one from the same guy i got my tranny from. its 2200 plus shipping. ya its a little more but i get what i pay for with him. after i added up all the parts it was about the same and someone else did the work. cant argue i guess. thanks for the info though.
