2013 ford f150

I have a 2013 f150. It doesn't not have a stock tow package but I added an aftermarket hitch and 7 pin-plug. I need to install a brake controller. I was hoping to buy a oem one and install. The truck has the plug under the dash already. If I buy a oem controller and just plug in it( and get ford to flash the software) will it work as it would if it came stock.
