Got the head back with a bill of excellent health and am waiting on a 20mm gasket set from Sunrise Ford. I have a 18mm set but replacement heads use the 18 to 20 adapter to the new 20mm head.
<hr style="color:#D1D1E1; background-color:#D1D1E1" size="1"> Got it back together. Rotated it by hand at 95, 135, 180, and 210ft/lbs. No issues It took a few tries but fired up and sounded good. I do have a few issues to work on.
1. Oill pressure gauge reading zero. It worked on the last start. Im guessing a connection
2. No Boost Ideas on trouble shooting?
3. Maybe a long crank to start?
Everyones help has been great, and am looking for more to finish this off!
The Most common problem for NO Boost after this kinda work is the Ypipe to Turbo Connection leak
When its Cold you can start it up and feel around all the Uppipe to Turbo exhaust joints and if there is a Leak you should feel air rushing out the Joint
Even a small leak and the truck wont be able to pull a Greasy string out a Cats A$$
The Longer starts are probably just air still in the HPO System so you can rev it up a few times Now and then when you get the Boost figured out and can drive it Ford recomends a Few Spirited Accelrations to purge air out the HPO Rails
Thanks! It runs, but just cant get out of its own way. I refitted the y pipe and it looks good now. Checked the VGT connection, EBP etc. All appears good but just No Turbo. I cant run it out to troubleshoot the long cranks. I guess maybe remove and reinstall the turbo?
Took it around the block this morning. I do think its an exhaust leak causing the lack of boost. Took the turbo off when i got back, ill loosen everything up and try again. I did take the IPR off to check it since its easy right now. Screen was clogged. Im betting it was from debris (caked oily dirt) from that i removed from the oil cooler bath area. Hope that corrects the long crank starts.
Good call all. I removed the turbo and found the EGR cooler out of alignment which caused the ypipe to be misaligned. Got boost! When the turbo was out I cleaned the IPR screen. Much better crank time now. Now to troubleshoot the oil pressure oem gauge
