Help with light set up please.

I just bought a bull bar for my 2006 ford f350 and it has 2 lights attached to it.

I want to hook them up to on of my AUX switchs in the cab....
But I don't know how to do that.

Anyone able to give me some step by step instructions as to how to connect the lights to the AUX switch?

There should be a couple of pages about the aux switches (or upfitter switches as they are called in the manual) in your owner's manual which will give you detailed info. Search on upfitter for lots more details and pics.

Up under the dash, directly above the parking brake pedal, you will find four wires taped to the harness. They'll have some heat shrink on the ends to prevent shorting out. You may also see a bundle of a dozen wires or so taped to the big harness right where it goes through the firewall. That's a different group.

Anyway, there should be a Yellow (25 amp), Green with Brown stripe (25 amp), Red (10 amp) and Yellow with a Red stripe (15 amp). That is switches 1 through 4 in the same order. Since these are already fused, you just have to decide which one to use. That is based on the combined current (amperage) requirements of your lights.

I can tell you what size wire to use if you'll tell us what the amperage and fuse requirements are for the lights.

Are you at all familiar with 12vdc aftermarket wiring? If you are not, I recommend that you find a friend locally who is to help you with the actual hookup. There's a lot to it if you are are just starting out and it is difficult to explain it all here.

Well he did a good job of getting you over half-way there to wiring them up. Here's some info on a 2008 model. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...bb_pdf/349.pdf

In this model 2 of the circuits are 30 amp, and one is 15 and one is 10amp. If you use one of the 30 amp circuits, I would run 10 gauge wire to the lights. If you use the 10 or 15amp, you can use a 12 gauge wire.

But the previous poster is correct, you need to see how much wattage your new lights use. We can then figure how large the circuit needs to be, but most lights that I know of would be able to use the smallest 10 amp circuit. 10amp times 12v equals 120watts of light you would be able to hook up on the 10 amp circuit.

I couldn't tell you about the lights if I wanted to because the guy I bought the Bull Bar from installed them onto the bull bar.

They each have a wie about 1 foot long...

i just want to know what I can hook that up to and how to run it to my upfitter switches.

Pull one of the lights and look them over and see what the wattage of each is. It would be a waste to run them on one of your 30amp circuits, but if you wanted to it would certainly handle it.

If you use a 30 amp circuit buy some 10 gauge wire, hook both lights to this wire, run it into the cab and hook it to one of the circuits described above hanging down under the dash. That's it.

one word of warning here is to NEVER load a fuse at more than 80% of its rated capacity. i used to have a truck with a pair of 55w backup lights (110w total) running through a 10a fuse. my calculator says that 110w at 12v is 9.2 amps, and for not knowing any better, i used a 10a fuse. when i happened to see it some months later, the fuse and its holder were melted down and bent sideways. fortunately i was using a cheap inline fuse holder, so it was a small loss. i don't want to think about melting down a factory fuse box that way!

its likely that your lights up there are 55w, so i say you should use no less than a 15a circuit if my assumption is correct.
