Im going to be replacing my Rear Main Seal in My 2004 6.0 diesel truck here shortly. Was wondering if anyone has the dim. of the Crank Bolt Pattern as to where the Installion Tool mounts? I plan on making the tool and Id really like to have it made Before I start, the replacement. Thanks for any info.
I'm sending this one down to the 6.0L forum, the folks down there will have a better time answering this one. How do you know your rear main seal is leaking? Lots of things on a 6.0 can leak and drip down the back of the engine.
Thanks for sending this to the proper forum. Ive had a pretty good look at the back of the engine and i dont see any real amount oil there, and ive read where the 6.0 is sometimes prone to leaking at the seal. Thanks again.
Also if you do take on the seal replacement DO NOT REMOVE the inner set of bolts
on the end of the crank shaft. So it's a good idea to find manual or go to some place like
like Alldata.com. Chiltons and Haynes manuals are not worth the paper that they are
printed on. They lack detail on this motor.
Yes. Thing is though that a lot of people here have found that if they run 13.5-14 quarts of oil instead of 15 that it seems to slow or stop the slow leak from the bedplate. Also, unless it's leaving spots on the ground I would simpy leave it.
