hi there i have a 96 f150 that i have a problem with it starting when it is a running temp i have replaced a lot of parts and nothing seems to help it has the 4.9 it has a new crank sensor, coil, distributor, ignition module, idle control valve, throttle positioning sensor, fuel regulator there might be more just can't think of anything else right now
I am hoping someone can give me some ideas
When it is running, how does it run; sluggish, lacking power, pinging, knocking?
How did you pull the codes?
Have you disconnected the battery? (Don't)
There is no pinging or knocking, but it is sluggish and lack of power at times.
I have a code reader that you plug into the truck
And yes, I did disconnect the battery and hooked it back up.
Disconnecting the battery resets the computer, telling it that "Everything is A Okay (hiccup)"
But, luckly the computer is smart enough to realize after a day or two of driving, something is amiss.
Does anyone have any ideas what it possibly could be or sounds like it could be? I am totally lost, I understand the way to found out what it is, I have to pull the codes, but now I have to wait a couple days or longer
Some ideas would be really helpful, because I don't know where to go anymore
I suggest you go around the block a few times to throw the fault codes. Might take many trips around the block. Then don't disconnect the battery. Then read the codes.
What exactly is the problem? Hard start when it is warm? Starts fine when cold?
It will start, but once the truck gets to running temp, I can't shut the truck off because I will be stranded where I am at. It doesn't start back up at running temp, I have to wait for the truck to cool down.
