My check engine light is staying on . I want to know if I can get flashing trouble code by grounding a wire at the diagnostic test plugin terminal like you could in some older models from GM. This is the newest Ford I have ever owned. Can I check for a trouble code without the diagnostic tester? 96 F-150
I believe that the 96 is OBD-II instead of OBD-I, for OBD-I, pulling the codes is just like you said, and here's a link on how to do it: http://www.broncodata.com/tech/codes.htm
I'm not sure on OBD-II though, I know you can goto Autozone and have them read it for you for free though.
