Bought a 2002 F150. NO door button pad, and the guy lost the FOB. I bought a new FOB, but i cant get the truck to go into program mode. Suppose to turn the key on- off, 8 times and horn beeps... I never get the beep. There is a 5 digit code on the card in the glove box, so i assume it came with remote entry. How to check ? There is also a small black box about 1 inch cube attached to windhield infront of thr mirror. Has a blue LED light on it and small wireharness into roof console area. My 2001 did not have this. Is it factory for compass or part of aftermarket remote start or alarm system ? Would something like that disable my ability to program the FOB ?
OK. the thing with the blue LED says SH 433-100 on it. I punch that into google and it says it might be a remote start unit. Maybe that system is overriding my transponder ? Think i will call the previous owner and ask questions.
Still need FOB help. I took off the aftermarket /remote start / door lock box. It is a AS-1725. REmoved the box, truck still starts with the key... Disconnected several more aftermarket wires that attache to factory wires... truck still starts.
I look at the firewall up behind the brake pedal and i can see the factory keyless module. I sould be able to go into program mode to recognize a FOB or kekypad. I turn the key from off to on 8 times and stop at on position.. suppose to have a horn honk to tell you its ready for recognize a FOB... i dont get the horn. How can i test the keyless module? Dont think it has a seperate fuse ?
I dont think so. Will try again tomorrow. When i got the truck it had "auto locks" turned on. Locks when you put in Drive... All that stuff works, i turned that off with a different sequence listed in the book. I assume all this is part of the keyless entry module ?
Finally fixed !! After removing 80% of the aftermarket auto - start, i was down to a couple relays and some wire. Pulled a relay off and the truck would not start with the key.. no crank. Followed those 12 gague wires up to the ignition switch. Thats how they bypass the key for starting the truck. I had to take the lower section of dash off below the steering wheel, unsolder several wires and put things back onto the switch the way it came from the factory. Wasnt too bad a job, the original guy the modified it did a half way decent job with the wireing. After fixing up the wires, the truck starts, and with 8 turns of the key it went into program mode for the FOB... or new keypad. I posted a new thread about the new keypad install.. DONE.
