In 2002 Ford made changes to the wiring. Things like the tach signal input have been changed, along with a few others. If you swap in an 01 PCM into an 02 truck, you won't have tach, I think the alternator won't charge the batteries (if I remember correctly), etc.
What Curtis said. That's why it's important for someone writing tunes to know what PCM you have. Generally the same letter codes are interchangeable. For example, VDH1, VDH2-VDH5 can all run the same truck, and IIRC, PHP uses VDH2 base tuning for any VDH PCM. But, if I took my chip with VDH2 base tuning and put it on a truck with a PMT2 PCM, some things won't work correctly. It won't destroy the truck or anything, just won't be 100% for all features. Tugly had a list somewhere that he got from Cody I believe that had all the PCM codes and the applicable trucks. Might shoot him a PM and see if he still has that hanging around. It was a while back and I have no clue what thread it was in.
