If he wasn't smart enough to keep the 7.3 over a 6.2, well, he's probably getting what he deserves.

I had to say it. I'm no help for you though. The boss for my part time city job got a chebby a couple weeks ago, I had a hard time just washing it. The old ford I washed got waxed too. I know, I'm bad.

Typically the injector pump, but of course start cheap check fuel filter and it should have a engine mounted lift pump.

Good point, the 6.5's originally had the pmd mounted on the top of the injection pump which could cause a bunch of weird problems when they go bad. I believe GM released a relocation kit with a heat sink mounted by the bumper to keep them cooler.

if i remember correctly from the van school buses, the 6.5 has an electric fuel pump in the tank.
the electronics box for the fuel system was mounted on the intake under the turbo, and would overheat and die. if it is surging, it sounds like the injector pump is dying. how many miles on it??

Should just be a pickup in the tank and a frame mounted electric pump. I believe they only need 4-5 psi fuel pressure. if pressure is good 9/10 times its the injector pump.

Correct , pump is frame mount . I have seen a lot of voltage issues with them . Pump mods. ect .. But usually not this complaint . Heck , most of them are dead now anyway !
