On my 63 ford pickup 292 i have the original intake to valley pan for PCV, on my older 1955 ford car 292 i am running a spacer plate under the carburetor, and drilled a hole halfway down on my oil filler tube and am using small heater hose to go from there to the oil filler tube, works great!!!!...Janet
I really like your setup, Roger. Am following your lead here with the 3x2, tho' I've got the 553 Edelbrock. I put a brass fitting on the manifold with a 3/8 barb fitting. Have yet to cut up my road draft tube ... RDT for lazy typists.
Did you insert the pcv between the two different sized hoses? It seems like an easy way to do it... and my auto parts professionals have yet to find a valve for a '64 292.
If you notch the back of the canister can you make a filler piece and attach it with JB weld or should it be welded?
I used JB Weld since it is strong enough. Just a vacuum fitting. Modern cars use plastic fittings, so this should hold up well. It is easy to file/sand to shape and then paint after it hardens. If you are good at brazing, that would work too. The PCV valve I found has a 1/2 inch fitting on the motor side and a 3/8 fitting on the vacuum side. I found the PCV valve at Autozone. I notched the cannister and used the removed metal to fab the piece I glued back.

Thanks for all of your help. best. himmelberg
I was in Autozone yesterday and checked on the PCV valve I used. It is made bt Deutche and is number PCV134. It is listed for a 292 Ford truck application in their catalog. It has a hose barb on each end, 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch.
I finally found the perfect PCV grommet to fit the rearvented valley cover. It is the HELP brand, part number 42054. Fits good and tight. The Deutche PCV134 will fit into the grommet, attach a 3/8 inch hose between the PCV and carb, and that is it.

Fanatstic!!! I copied and pasted that information on notepad and ran it on my printer, it's going in my parts manual. 46Y, that's great, it's easy and fixes the issue.....Janet

Janet40,
I have a 292 and a 272, both with 2 bbl carb, on which I want to try your PCV valve installation. Will you furnish vendor, mfr, part # of the spacer and PCV valve?

On my 1963 Ford Pickup, i use the factory regualr vaccum hose to valley pan setup, that is all you really need. Otheres here have dont theirs other ways, now in my 55 for fairlane, i installed very small heater hose from the plate under my caburetor that came off ofa 78 model 302 engine, that is a plate that bolts directly under the carburetor (2 bbl), , I fabricated a methosd on that one to run from 3 inches inder the oil filler cap and drilled and hole and squeezed it in tight in an upright position, just be sure if you go that methos, while adding oil, have a funnel that goes past where your PCV line is or you will fill the pcv line full of oil, i know it's a cheap rig up, but so what??? It works, and i use this car very much !!!!...Janet
Janet, my 55 has a vacuum connection on the intake manifold in front of the carb, but there is a connection to it from the fuel pump. How do you think it would do if I installed a "tee" connection to add a PCV valve there? What is the purpose of the vacuum connection to the fuel pump, anyway?

On mny og the older ones. i believe, that vaccum lline was for yout winshield wipers. Inother words, the wipers weren't ran by an electric motor, but bu vaccum instead....I wwould not go the tee connection route, seems to me, you should already have the valley pan PCV, take it off and make sure it works well, and that's all you will need....Janet
When was it that the first PCV on a 292 came out? 63 or 64? MyDad you won't find a PCV in your valley unless you changed it to a later model valley with rear draft. There was a suggestion 3 posts up that you could just use the PCV port on the carb and run it into the valley without the valve. It was written here or somewhere else, I forget, that if you do that and the carb has a backfire, you run the risk of igniting combustible gases inside the block!
My 64 has a vent connection on the valley cover pan. However, I strongly suspect it has been clogged up for years as I have a rear main seal leak and blowby from the oil fill cap. The simplest way to correct it would be to get a new PCV valve and flex hose to replace the old valve and rigid pipe.
The reason I need info on one without the connection on the valley cover pan is for the 272 in the 55. It appears the simplest way is to add a connection to either the rt valve cover, or oill filler neck, and add a spacer under the 2 bbl carb. I have been told that the spacer for a 78 302 V-8 2bbl will fit, I just can't find out where to get oner.
