Add the trans cooler from an 06 diesel the 30 row and the tranny will probably last forever. Heat kills the trans quick. Lots of power equals heat. Going from a 9 row to a 30 row really makes a difference
I used air bags in the back as I liked the soft ride. THe sway bar will be added later but I still prefer the softer ride.
If you plan on working on the motor yourself invest in a great scanner. I bought the AE with the enhanced ford bundle. It has saved me thousands in repairs and I can run it all the time to monitor decline. I can see the differences with a fresh oil change and when I push the oil too far.
I also had a battery drain issue that turned out to be the factory 6cd radio. Seems to be a common fail. New Pioneer with USB and I have all the music I could ever need and no more dead batteries.
Have fun and enjoy. MPG varies from 18-22 depending on which truck. I avg 19 on highways and can get 22 on the long flat hauls. Driving the local mountains I drop as low as 13-14 but still the power is amazing.
Well the alternator and transmission have been added to the list. The leak in the transmission was because it was overheating and blowing fluid out of the vent tube. Also, they found a crack in the case. So today I get my truck back. This thing has been in the shop more than its not been. I have only driven 2000 miles on it since March. This is really getting frustrating!
I have now repaired the following:
1. Windshield leaked and was replaced
2. Rear hatch would not lock - greased actuator
3. Rear vent window leaking - turned out to be seam weld on top - silicone fixed
4. Rear LS differential locked up - replaced with Detroit Trutrac along with gears
5. Replaced rear drive shaft u-joints - fixed vibration some
6. Rear A/C would not cool - Replaced rear expansion valve
7. Rancho 9000xl shocks
8. Readhead steering box
9. Hellwig rear sway bar
10. Replaced front leaf springs with stock replacements - I did not want any lift because of garage height limitations.
11. Total transmission rebuild
12. Alternator
I took delivery on a "NEW" not rebuilt 130amp yesterday from www.alternatorpro.com for $127.96+8.00 shipping. ProAmp brand. They offer 200Ampers for about $250.
