05' F250 6.0L. I have to get a tuner to turn my check engine light off due to get my EGR delete. Unfortunately the mechanic did the delete by welding it shut from what I was told. Therefor, I have to get a scanner! any suggestions on a scanner and the codes I need? Money is tight so cant spend a fortune I just have to pass inspection. Any feedback in much needed and appreciated. Next week is the inspection. Thanks guys
I did not see the part about an up coming inspection with I posted to you thread
over at the HD forum. If they open the hood you not going to pass anyway.
A welded closed EGR valve port is a dead give away. To pass an open hood
inspection you need the valve in place and the cooler also. You would have to do
the delete one of two ways. Stealth delete or an electronic delete. The Stealth delete
you have the cooler ends welded shut with a plug and a TIG welder. The tune (electronic
delete) is better I think because your just turning the valve off and the rest stays the
same. Or if you don't want the risk of a cooler failure and the problems that go with that
you do a Stealth delete with a tune and that is the same as an electronic delete. Or for
the bit more money you get a cooler from BPD BulletProofDiesel - Darn-Near Bullet Proof Diesel Products for your 6.0 and 6.4
and use the tune (electronic delete) and you can remove the tune and run stock
if your in one of the places that read the OBD2 port in the truck.
How ever you look at things your may be in a pickle if time is this short.
Also like I said in the other posting I use http://www.gearheadautomotiveperformance.com/
for my tunes and really like what Matt has done.
Lets see if we can get some more input on this later today. I may of missed an option.
The EGR Cooler is welded shut and is still intact with motor for the inspection reason. From what the mechanic told me it would pass all I need was a programmer to delete the code that is triggering my check engine light to turn on. I have a guy I found off of craigslist that has a SCT SF3 Agreesive Tow, Heavy Tow, and a street economy for 275.00 Just Trying to find out if these are to tunes that will work. not trying to be a cheap *** but my finical situation isn't the greatest due to a new move so trying to fix it the cheapest way possible. Thanks man! any input helps

first off make sure its not locked, the truck it came from has to have been returned to stock prior too or it will cost you more money to get it unlucked.
the caned sct tunes will work, and they are not to bad. there is better but its a money thing
