Ok, so I just got my brackets, left side will go on nice, right side I see has to be cut open and holes drilled for screws, when I got truck, didn't have any interior hardware, why is the right side closed so that the back of the bracket won't fit in the opening like the the drivers side?
Different bracket or possibly never had a visor on the right side?
PITA now have to cut an opening after painted, ugh.
I think, and someone will correct me if I am wrong, the difference was basic cab and custom cab. I have had 54's with closed holes on the passenger side.
standard cab trucks did not come with a pass side visor. The custom cabs did and the factory would "knock out" the place for the visor for the pass side
Take a punch and give it a good smack near the edge of the pre-punched hole. I was leery of doing damage but it opened right up. Gentle tapping did nothing. YMMV... With fresh paint, you may want to score the paint around the edge.
The factory only supplied a visor on the driver side
Deluxe cabs, as they were called in 53 and 54, and Custom Cabs, as they were called in 55 and 56, had both driver and passenger sun visors installed. The Standard Cabs only had the drivers side sun visor.

ALBUQ F-1,
Thanks for the guidance. I installed visors in my 55' cab this evening. Passenger side needed to be drilled and "knocked out"
Factory finished before "knock out" After "knock out" Passenger Side DRIVER side
