Almost ready to install the gauge cluster for the first time. Pictures I've found for speedometer cable routing show it some what straight forward through the fire wall. On mine, the knock out in that location is still in place.
My 56 cable routing goes through the floor next to the transmission cover where there is a bump in the cover to route the cable to the transmission. Can't show much of a picture because of the sound deadener and carpet.
It looks for me (picture) you talking about the 56 cab, right?
First some of the holes in the pictures are not original.
The right hole for the speedometer cable you can see in the second picture. It is the bigger black hole above the valve cover. The nut of the speedometer cable what goes to the speedometer is about 7/8 “. So it does not fit trough a small hole .
The routing to the transmission cover is possible but not correct. Usually this is used for the parking brake cable.
have a look to the following thread. This will help you. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...all-holes.html
best regards

On the first picture, if this is a speedometer cable this is wrong. This hole is usually for trucks with overdrive.
that’s the reason why your knock out hole is intact.
