I started a thread the other day asking if the combo o ring kit from dieselorings or Riff Raff would contain everything I needed to fix any leaks that I may have in my engine valley. There's been a leak in that area for a while and I've finally decided to take care of it. I ordered the combo kit last night. I went out today and did some minor clean up of the valley, mainly just got the fuel/oil that was pooling in the valley out and cleaned up a couple of areas that I suspected may be leaking. I discovered that there is definitely fuel bowl leak, looks like it is coming from under the drain valve area. Also it looks like the passenger side fuel line is leaking where it connects to the head, pretty moist around the connection and running down covering the starter. Another thing I noticed that I hadn't figured as one of the most probably sources was the IPR looks like it may be leaking. Right where the IPR goes into the HPOP looked like it was wet, in fact to me it looks like the gunk on the IPR is wetter than anything else in that area. If you look at where the tip of the needle nose pliers are pointing in the pic, that is the area that looks wet. Will the combo kit have what I need to fix that or will I need an IPR rebuild kit? Another thing, and I'm pretty new at this so forgive me if this is a stupid question, the part of the IPR that the wires plug into is lose, by that I mean it will rotate right or left about 1/4 inch, see video. Is it suppose to do that? One more thing, completely unrelated, while poking around in there I noticed that there is some moisture in my boost gauge line. I have Glow Shift gauges, which I don't like and have Autometer gauges on the way as we speak. The boost line is like clear fish tank tubing and I can see droplets of moisture in it. Is that normal? Here is the pic of the possible IPR leak and the video of it moving I was talking about. I know I need to clean the valley area up alot better for further inspection but I was just doing some quick looking today.
I can't remember if the Mechanic's Kit from Guzzle has the IPR rebuild stuff in it or not. Obviously, use Viton o-rings. The Large ring on the IPR is a -114 size, and the small o-ring is a -012. If you catch it on sale, Harbor Freight has a multi-size viton o-ring kit (something like 120 orings) that has 5 of each of those, IIRC. On sale the whole kit is something like $10, versus the normal $20. Most of the orings in that kit are useless for our trucks, but there are a few sizes like those that will work. For $10, it's a great deal.
As far as the electrical connector, that seems awfully loose, which means that your IPR nut is not likely tight enough on there. I don't think mine moves much if at all, but certainly not that easy. The proper torque setting is 53 INCH pounds for the nut, and if you remove the IPR from the HPOP, the IPR to HPOP is 35 FOOT pounds.
ON EDIT...based on your picture, it doesn't LOOK like there is oil around your IPR, just a bunch of dried out grime. You sure it's not a fuel leak leaking down onto that area? Maybe from your FPR or one of the fuel lines right there?
It seemed to move to much to me too. There is a channel, so to speak, there for it to move in and it hits a stop on each side when I move it right to left like that but it does seem to move awful freely. What made me think the IPR is leaking is because the big nut that sets flush with the hpop was wet on the flat side of the nut that is facing the driver aide fuel line. Its hard to see it in the pic but it was definitely wet right there. I'll check the tightness of the IPR nut. Which one is it, the big one on the very end of the IPR?
I've been stuck with a random erratic idle issue for a while now.
I was suspect of IPR o-rings, and replaced them (with Guzzle's parts). While I was in there I found my IPR solenoid EXACTLY like yours, kinda' loose.
The tin-nut was tight, and the spacer was in place... I reassembled everything and tightened the tin-nut properly... The solenoid was/is STILL loose, just like yours. My random erratic idle still persists.
I know this sucks to even think about, but that's one of the symptoms I had when I was playing Whack-A-Mole with my loose injectors. Fuel pressure gauge?

Hope we don't derail the OPs thread too far.
Yes, I have a FP gauge. Steady 57-61 PSI from idle to cruising rpm. It does however drop into the mid-high 40's under WOT.

Yes...it's the one that is just a thin tin nut, and hollow on the side facing the HPOP. It's holding the solenoid / electrical connector part on there.
That nut looks like its been wrenched on before. I'll check the torque on it and if its still that loose I'll probably just get a new IPR. According to my scan gauge it seems to be doing okay though.
