I hear you.
at least you cant reach your valley easier than I.
I am sure I will get to a point that I will accept so I can press on. it will be clean enough. not what I would want, but enough to get all my new things installed and see if the beast will live. hehe.
Just read in another thread to use simple green to degrease engine. Walmart is suposed to carry it. Goin to town tomorrow anyway so we'll see.
So I got a box with yellow tape that had my ICP in it. so I thought to show some pics. plus how easy you truck guys have it. took some pics to show how much fun us Van guys can have. both pics I am touching the HPOP. that should give you an idea
oh and dont forget my lein stool. its an old shoe holder for a closet.
so New ICP is installed. HPOP is in, but need a hand to finish torquing the big bolt on the HPOP. oh and its warmer finally
I hope so fellas. as I have replaced or fixed a few things that can make my starting up interesting.
today I got off work early and made good head way to get stuff back on. borrowed a torque wrench. I cheated and put in the fuel bowl loosely in before the HPOP res. figured lack of space I would take advantage of it being open.
ICP, HPOP-T500, New HPOP hoses installed.
the fun I had was putting on the new fuel line seals. I was putting one on and it slipped . luckily found it in the valley. what scared me was the HPOP res. was open with a lose rag over the top. got lucky and found the new seal in the valley.
I hope to finish up this weekend so I can start the beast up. I Just hope I dont have leaks anywhere. cant offord the time and frustration at this point. I didn't even clean the valley very well. got the point of wanting to be DONE and just put the stuff together.
will get some more pic and report of start up and how that goes.
(knock on wood)
well after the long process and time to get everything done. I got it all back together and took a short test drive with out the dog house on. boy is it loud.
had a slight leak on one of the fuel attachments and got that fixed before the intake and all that jazz went in. cause with everything in makes it really hard to see anything.
I was surprised as I did not kill my batteries on the first start. I have read some folks on FTE have. so I was expecting it or something. as my luck with this van has not been stellar lol.
took about 4 or 5 times cranking and idles fine. I did notice that after it ran for about 5 min. I turned it off to check things. start up again took 2 or 3 times.
I took a short drive around town and will take it for a longer one after it cools.
things I did this time around. (if I can remember it all)
T-500
thermastat and upper housing and hose
IPR
ICP
New HPOP lines
Fixed fuel bowl from previoius rebuild as one oring was strangley cut.
New Idler pull
New bearing on roller above idler pulley
Just glad so far that I am done. will do some driving and re-check for leaks. taking the dog house on and off is a pain, but nice that I can look in from the back to see if there are leaks.
even installed one of my new battery carrier that resides on the rail that I picked up a while ago.
no on to the tank. but it might be a while as I loose my job in less than a month and havent found a replacment yet. so tank stuff might have to wait. luckily I dont have to drive the van at this time.
not living in a van down by the river just yet. lol
Cheers to all, and thanks for all the help on this task.
longer test run over. about 20 miles. seems to be running good. better pick up than before but not like its chipped or something (you have to remember the vans are detuned from the trucks cause we have no intercooler). maybe a little quieter but hard to tell. starts up better now too.
still might have a slight seepage leak on one of the fuel bowl fittings, but at this point I will mess with that later. drive it a few more times before I have to take stuff back out to tighten it and hopefully fix it.
just grateful I didn't have any major issues and or left me stranded on the test drive.
Good work! You are getting very comfortable with your van it seems. Nothing like the confidence of knowing you can tackle anything that comes up later on.
well I hate it when it takes a long time to fix things. weather is weather, waiting for parts or saving funds for parts. I got it all back together. on start up i had a slight fuel drip. so I take apart the cap and spring on the return ( I think its the return anyway) and fixed it.
took a few test drives of over 15 miles each. run ups and what not.
well I thought I put all my tools back, but found a funny on my return this evening.
so on my next project I would have been looking for my 5/8's wrench for some time. eventually would have bought one, but still would have been pissed on where hte hell it was. well I found it. hahahahah
