Please help
I like the front end on these year models but I also know the bad reputation of these years Diesel engine.
I'm looking to find one with less than 200,000 miles. Or how many is too many? I'm also looking more towards 2007 because I've heard they worked out more bugs with that 6.0L as they went along. I really like the factory 5 spoke 20's on these models. And can anyone tell me if Ford offered a factory radio in these years that allowed use of iPhones to play music?
What else should I look out for? Egr delete? Some kind of stud bolts?
Any advice? I'm frantically searching for the right truck. It can be F350 SRW or F250.
Since you're asking a lot of 6.0L PSD specific questions, I've moved your thread to the 6.0L Powerstroke Diesel forum. These guys are great and will surely help you out.
Best of luck with your search and for what it's worth, I had an '05 F-250 with the 6.0 and it was one of the best trucks I've ever owned.

Everything you need is on these forums, but it's gonna take a few weeks of reading to get a really good idea of what you are getting into.
You will need a monitor that speaks 6.0L and you should get it before you buy a truck. The cheapest good one is the ScanGauge II from Autozone or Amazon. Plug it into your car for power and program in a bunch of the XGauge gauges, so you can read them on your test drives.
There's a few things you need to know when you find a truck you like. Get an OASIS report from a Ford dealer that will show all warranty work done on it, and you'll learn what to look for on the monitor.
Bottom line is you can (many of us have) find a 6.0L that needs little or no work, spend a few bucks to keep it that way, and have the best truck with a great engine.
That 'reputation' you refer to helps you get a better deal, but you need to know what to look for.
I sure like 7.3, but I bought my 6 years old 6l for way less than 12 years old 7.3l would cost me, so it is tempting.
I am still researching all the details, but I went for the motor after conclusion that the only real problem with the engine are so-so studs, what makes problems on chipped engines. I don't plan on modifications, so I am OK with it.
Common issues are EGR and oil cooler failures, that too often with dummies driving the truck lead to total melt down.
You will find my tread about engine monitoring system where I am researching the best way to avoid such situation.
Good luck on your decision. I hope I will have one with mine.
