Purchase Tips!
New to the site, but was looking into the purchase of a older model truck. Just wondering what are the main things to look at/ watch out for when looking at used trucks. Hoping to find one with a crew cab (big enough to hold car seats) but want to make a smart buy and know what engine issues / underbody rust areas/ issues I should be aware of.
Also, when searching I came across a local f250 crew cab 4x4 with the power stroke diesel in it. When speaking with the guy about it, says that it has 300k miles on the engine, egr has been deleted, and pretty much has been rebuilt and no leaks or issues with it that I can see. Truck body itself seems to be in great condition and well taken care of. Price is at $7000 so its not a bad price, but I am new to diesels (hence the name :P) so I was wondering if this would be considered a good buy, or should I keep looking? I am not stuck on getting a diesel as for hauling any heavy loads would only be a few times a year (mulch / brush / wood) and I dont have a really far commute daily. We had thought with the idea of looking into a camper in the future so that would be the only reason I would lean more that way.
Anyways, sorry for the rambling. I appreciate any tips and help!
If you are looking at a 6.0L diesel there is a difference between "rebuilt" and "bulletproof".
Good luck on your hunt!
