My 350 was pulling a snowmobile trailer when it derated for the first time. I took it to a dealer in Minocqua, WI with a code P1207. By turning the key off, it reset the ECM. The truck ran fine for 4 months and then it happened 3 more times in the next few months. The last time I was pulling my snowmobile trailer again by Janesville, WI so took it to the dealer there. It had a P1206 code this time. The dealership could not help me, no one seems to have this problem documented. They say it is an open or short circuit to the injectors. Has anyone had this same issue?
When you say "derated", do you mean it stop accelerating? If so, my truck has done this several times. I am going to take it in and have it looked at.
Some times I will be driving down the highway and it will just flatten out for a bit. I can press the accelerator and there's nothing there.
No, it will run about half throttle, very slow take off and trans will hold long shifts. I put trans in manual mode and make it shift. Can only run 45-55mph pulling a 4 place inclosed snowmobile trailer. Engine has a miss and runs rough. Engine light may or may not come on.
I deal with sprinter vans which use Bosch fuel injectors very similar to ours here. I've had two injector failure with those in the three years they've been using them. Throws a similar code to what you got, maybe a slightly rough idle, but runs fine otherwise. I've just replaced them both and neither have returned, so must have fixed it. This truck under warranty still?
I would ask around and try to find a dealer that does a good volume of diesel trucks and tell them the background. Should get ya fixed right up. It's one thing I've found that some dealers don't do much for diesel service. I've gotten dear on headlights look from some asking a simple to me question, others I don't think even need their service manuals anymore.
The dealer I bought my truck from sells a lot of trucks, but that doesn't mean they have a great service department. I told the service writer I leave Fri. for Florida and have a code reader and will document and clear codes if needed. I think he was OK with that. Im not pulling any thing, so I hope there will not be a problem keeping road speed if code returns.
